Senior Software Engineer
3E is an internationally leading expertise company active in all domains of renewable energy and energy efficiency. It provides dedicated services to project and product developers, to technology and knowledge organisations as well as to financial institutions and policy makers in the following domains: bio-energy, solar energy, wind power, hydro power, energy efficiency in buildings and industry, corporate and public energy strategy.
3E was established as a spin-off of IMEC. It acts as a gap-bridging company between RD&D centres and the market place to provide professional solutions for a step-wise evolution to a performing sustainable energy system.
The company counts about 70 employees and is currently growing steadily, ensuring a dynamic working environment. 3E operates from its offices in Brussels, Toulouse, Beijing, and Istanbul and will continue to expand in other international locations in the coming years.
The role:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior Software Engineer to participate in the design and development of an advanced generic Dashboarding platform for the next generation Renewable Energy Dashboard systems.
This is a very unique opportunity to work with a talented international team designing and developing the next generation Renewable Energy Dashboard systems focused on Buildings, Photovoltaic and Wind.
Responsibilities:
- Management of a project development team of around 5 developers (junior to senior level) including DB, communication, DWH and advanced applications software engineers
- Definition of approach as well as planning of development project work and resources, reports status
- Working in close relationship with product manager and business representative to review functional requirements and perform User Acceptance Tests
- Responsible for software architecture
Profile:
- BA/BS in Computer Science or related field
- At least 5 years experience in energy software development across a wide variety of development projects
- At least 2 years experience in wind energy SCADA systems
- Must have 5+ years of Hands-On software development experience using Object-Oriented methodology
- At least one relevant experience as software architect in large software development project
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in the development and testing of WEB-based applications
- Experience with XML, Java Servlets, JSP, JDBC, SQL, and application servers
- Experience with automatic User Acceptance Testing
- Hands-on experience with large database management
- Must have worked on data acquisition, monitoring and control applications in Renewable Energy Market
- Hands-on experience in Business Intelligence environment
- Knowledge of the entire System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Able to communicate effectively with both technical (developer, IT architects) and non-technical personnel (management, user groups)
- Experience with several other languages such as C, C++, ....
Skills:
- Experience in management of software development projects with development team between 5 to 10 people
- Good and concise communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Fluency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of French and/or another European language is a plus
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships at all levels
- Inspires and leads other team members on their project and on other projects within the organization
- Has the ability to train and mentor junior team members
- Plans effectively. Able to meet frequent deadlines. Delivery oriented
- Ability and desire to understand the company’s vision and goals, business operations, and international markets
- Great analytical and design skills
- Excellent software development skills
